A Movement Built on Conviction

Ambassador Dr. Lord Ajmer is the visionary founder behind the We Are One Empowerment Initiative — a movement grounded in the conviction that lasting change begins when communities are equipped, connected, and empowered to lead themselves.

With deep roots in the Greater Banjul Area and a global perspective shaped by decades of civic leadership, Dr. Ajmer brings together the resources of the diaspora and the lived realities of West African communities to build programs that create real, measurable outcomes.

Ambassador & Civic Leader

Dr. Ajmer holds the distinguished title of Ambassador, a recognition of his sustained contributions to international civic engagement, community development, and cross-cultural dialogue. His leadership spans grassroots organizing, institutional advocacy, and the building of lasting partnerships between communities across the Atlantic.

His work reflects a consistent philosophy: that development is not something done to communities, but built by them — with the right tools, knowledge, and networks in place.

Founding WAOEI (2023)

In 2023, Dr. Ajmer founded the We Are One Empowerment Initiative in the Greater Banjul Area of The Gambia to address structural gaps in skills development, economic opportunity, and cultural documentation across West Africa. WAOEI was designed from the outset to be community-led and diaspora-supported — a model that connects global African communities with on-the-ground impact.

Under his leadership, WAOEI has launched the Sewing & Design Academy, a Youth & Women Entrepreneurship program, ongoing Community Development Workshops, and the landmark “Children of Africa” documentary initiative — building an institution that serves both present needs and long-term development goals.

Vision for the African Diaspora

Dr. Ajmer’s vision is rooted in the belief that the African diaspora is not a departure from the continent — it is an extension of it. By building bridges between Gambians and Africans living abroad and the communities they came from, WAOEI creates pathways for knowledge, capital, and solidarity to flow back in ways that strengthen local ecosystems rather than bypass them.

Four Initiatives, One Vision

Under Dr. Ajmer’s direct leadership, WAOEI operates four interlocking programs — each addressing a specific dimension of community empowerment. Together they form a cohesive model combining vocational training, entrepreneurship support, civic engagement, and cultural documentation to build self-sustaining communities from the ground up.

🧳

Sewing & Design Academy

Hands-on vocational training in garment construction, pattern-making, and design for women and young people in the Greater Banjul Area. Participants graduate with market-ready skills and tools to launch their own enterprises.

🚀

Youth & Women Entrepreneurship

Structured mentorship, business literacy workshops, and micro-enterprise seed support for aspiring entrepreneurs — focused on empowering women and youth to build financially independent, community-rooted businesses.

🤝

Community Development Workshops

Regular convenings that address local challenges in health, education, and civic participation. WAOEI facilitates knowledge exchange and cross-sector collaboration to strengthen community infrastructure from within.

🎬

“Children of Africa” Documentary

A landmark visual storytelling project documenting the lives, resilience, and culture of communities across The Gambia and West Africa — preserving heritage, amplifying voices, and shifting the global narrative.

One People.
One Purpose.
One Future.

Dr. Ajmer’s guiding principle is that Africa’s greatest asset is its people — and that building sustainable pathways for underserved communities is not charity, but investment in a shared future. When communities are equipped to lead themselves, the impact compounds across generations.
